Consultation

At your consultation, Dr. Grunwaldt will evaluate your nose and how it relates to the overall structure of your face.  She will talk with you to get a clear understanding of your goals.  She may take some measurements to help calculate optimal proportions for you.  Dr. Grunwaldt will also likely examine the interior structures of your nose as well.  Rhinoplasty is very different from person to person.  She will assure that your goals are realistic and attainable.  Dr. Grunwaldt attended Harvard and trained in a Harvard teaching hospital.  She has extensive training in cranio-facial surgery, a specialty within plastic surgery.

Recovery from rhinoplasty

You will likely leave surgery with gauze and other medical dressings on your nose.  You may also have a splint.  Your nose and surrounding areas will be swollen after your rhinoplasty.  This swelling gradually diminishes over the first two weeks.  You may also have black and blue discoloration.  This is all a normal part of healing.  You will take antibiotics to avoid infection and may take other medications to help with the swelling.  It is very important that you take these as directed to avoid complications after your surgery.  You will be restricted from contact sports and heavy lifting for about six weeks.

Cost of rhinoplasty

Of course the cost of your surgery will vary from surgeon to surgeon.  Be sure to pick a board certified plastic surgeon who is comfortable helping you to attain the goals you have set.  A recent survey showed that the cost of rhinoplasty in Pittsburgh ranges from $7900 – $15,000. Most of Dr. Grunwaldt’s rhinoplasty procedures are at the lower end of this scale.
